Solomiya Krushelnytska<\/strong><\/p>\n

This coin celebrates Solomiya Krushelnytska, who was a Ukrainian opera and chamber singer (dramatic soprano). Musical experts have described her as \u201cunforgettable\u201d, \u201cunsurpassed\u201d, \u201cthe one and only\u201d, and \u201ca most beautiful and charming Butterfly.\u201d Krushelnytska performed a variety of soprano parts, in particular from operas by Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss and Giacomo Puccini. Her repertoire included over 60 opera parts that have greatly influenced the development of the world\u2019s vocal arts. She also skillfully sang Ukrainian folk songs and promoted Ukrainian music. Thanks to her creative work she established friendship with Ivan Franko, Vasyl Stefanyk, Olha Kobylianska, Mykola Lysenko, and Oleksandr Myshuha.<\/p>\n

Obverse: in the center is an image of Krushelnytska performing Verdi\u2019s Aida; on both sides of Krushelnytska are stylized stage wings embellished with decorative ornaments; to the left is Ukraine`s small coat of arms; above, against the backdrop of the decorative ornament, is the legend \u0423\u041a\u0420\u0410\u0407\u041d\u0410 (Ukraine); to the right is the coin\u2019s issue year \u2013 2022; beneath is the coin\u2019s face value \u2013 \u0414\u0412\u0406 \u0413\u0420\u0418\u0412\u041d\u0406 (two hryvnias); to the right, above the issue year, is the mint mark of the NBU\u2019s Banknote Printing and Minting Works.<\/p>\n

Reverse: against a smooth background is a portrait of Krushelnytska, to the right of which is a stylized butterfly wing, symbolizing one of the singer\u2019s most famous opera roles \u201cMadama Butterfly\u201d; to the left are the singer\u2019s years of birth and death \u2013 1872\/1952 and the semicircular legend \u0421\u041e\u041b\u041e\u041c\u0406\u042f \u041a\u0420\u0423\u0428\u0415\u041b\u042c\u041d\u0418\u0426\u042c\u041a\u0410 (Solomiya Krushelnytska).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
