Saints Peter and Paul Garrison Church (city of Lviv)<\/strong><\/p>\n

This coin celebrates Saints Peter and Paul Garrison Church, which was built in the early 17th century and is now one of the holy places and landmarks of Lviv. This Baroque building \u2013 located in the historical part of the city of Lviv \u2013 is its largest church. The building, which has witnesses many events and at different times served as the city\u2019s garrison church, a warehouse, and a book store room, started operating as a church again in 2011. During the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict in eastern Ukraine, the church became a place where Ukrainian soldiers are prayed for and where funeral services for servicemen killed in the Joint Forces Operation are performed. It has also started to be used as a museum and a volunteer center.<\/p>\n

Obverse: there is Ukraine\u2019s small coat of arms, below which is the legend \u0423\u041a\u0420\u0410\u0407\u041d\u0410 (Ukraine); there is also a fragment of the church\u2019s central nave; beneath, against a smooth background, are the coin\u2019s face value and issue year \u2013 5\/\u0413\u0420\u0418\u0412\u0415\u041d\u042c\/2021 (5\/hryvnias\/2021); beneath, to the right, is the mint mark of the NBU\u2019s Banknote Printing and Minting Works.<\/p>\n

Reverse: there is the facade of the church building; above, to the left of the facade, are the image of a lion and the legend \u041b\u042c\u0412\u0406\u0412 (Lviv) (under the lion); to the left is the semicircular legend \u0413\u0410\u0420\u041d\u0406\u0417\u041e\u041d\u041d\u0418\u0419 \u0425\u0420\u0410\u041c \u0421\u0412\u042f\u0422\u0418\u0425 \u0410\u041f\u041e\u0421\u0422\u041e\u041b\u0406\u0412 \u041f\u0415\u0422\u0420\u0410 \u0406 \u041f\u0410\u0412\u041b\u0410 (Saints Peter and Paul Garrison Church).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
